The best way to expand opportunity, we believe, is to empower intelligent decision-making. Specifically, we seek to support strategy-driven, data-informed decision-making across the campus community.

The challenges facing colleges and universities are familiar to everyone in the field: declining enrollment, declining state support, rising discount rates, increasing competition from online providers, and of course COVID-19. More broadly, rising income inequality, the decline of middle class opportunities, and the rising burden of college debt makes the value proposition of a college education less certain, even while it is all the more necessary.

Colleges and universities have shown remarkable resilience and creativity in meeting these challenges, especially the pandemic, and they have some powerful tools at their disposal. Too often, though, they are not fully able to utilize the resources that they have. Data is inaccessible, difficult to use, and/or siloed. Faculty are entrusted with governance, but often do not have the resources they need to govern effectively. Adversarial relationship develop, with all parties competing for ever-dwindling turf. All this at a time when the entire institution needs to work together to meet very real challenges.

We believe that with robust and easy-to-use data, effective decision-making processes, and a clear understanding of strategy, the entire community can work together to identify opportunities, allocate resources effectively, and maximize the value they can deliver to students and other stakeholders—thus maximizing value for the institution as well.
